KENNESAW, Ga. (Nov 21, 2016) — Dr. Beverly Crank recently published the article "Accepting Deviant Identities: The Impact of Self-Labeling on Intentions to Desist from Crime" in the Journal of Crime and Justice. This article examines how offenders perceive and self-label themselves (e.g., criminal, violent, noncriminal), and what impact this has on one's intentions to desist from crime (i.e., refrain from offending).
