Dr. Stanley Crowder selected as recipient of the 2007 Betty L. Siegel Award
KENNESAW, Ga.
(Nov 20, 2007) — The College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Department of Sociology and Criminal
Justice are proud to announce that Dr. Stanley Crowder has been awarded the 2007 Betty
L. Siegel Award. Nominations for the Betty L. Siegel Award were solicited by alumni
over a period of several months. Alumni were asked to recommend a favored faculty
member and share the experiences and interaction with the faculty member that made
that individual such a memorable part of the alum's experience at Kennesaw State University.
All nominations were reviewed by KSUAA Events Committee and Dr. Stanley Crowder was
selected as the 2007 Betty L. Siegel Awardee.
English Professor Linda Stewart, last year's recipient of the award, introduced Dr. Crowder to the audience:
Dr. Crowder is a person of exemplary integrity. His role as professor at KSU is one on many ways he directs his passion for growth and development of individuals and the field of criminal justice. Dr. Crowder's approach to educating others is informed by over thirty years of military service, including serving as a United States Army Trainer. He also has seven years experience as a police officer. The diversity of personal experience and expertise supports Dr. Crowder's abilities as an educator to address the pertinent issues confronting the criminal justice system, including profiling and analysis. Dr. Crowder has been an esteemed member of the KSU faculty for over a decade.
About the Betty L. Siegel Award
The Betty L. Siegel award was created in 1992 to honor the President of Kennesaw
State University and long-time supporter, Dr. Betty L. Siegel. Annually, the award
is given to an outstanding KSU faculty membe, in keeping with Dr. Siegel's "excellence
in teaching" doctrine. The recipient of the award is someone who exemplifies outstanding
qualities of scholarship, leadership, and service to KSU, as well as displays a strong
commitment to his or her students, fellow faculty members and surrounding community.
