SGIA Hosted Constitution Week Panel on Presidential Succession

KENNESAW, Ga. (Sep 16, 2024) — On Monday, September 16, 2024, the School of Government and International Affairs (SGIA), in collaboration with KSU Libraries, hosted an engaging Constitution Week Panel at the Hub in Sturgis Library. The event, titled "The 25th Amendment and Presidential Succession: Myths, Realities, and Unknowns," brought together a distinguished panel of SGIA faculty experts: Dr. Carl Snook, Dr. Timothy Kersey, and Dr. Andrew Pieper.

The discussion centered on the complexities of the 25th Amendment, exploring its historical context and practical implications surrounding presidential succession. The panelists delved into some of the amendment's most pressing questions.

The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of students, faculty, and community members to explore the lesser-known aspects of this critical constitutional safeguard. Attendees actively engaged with the speakers during the Q&A session, sparking insightful discussions about the amendment's application.

SGIA and KSU Libraries were pleased with the turnout and the lively dialogue fostered during the panel. This event was a great example of SGIA's commitment to promoting civic education and awareness, especially on topics vital to constitutional processes and preserving democratic institutions.
