KENNESAW, Ga. (Nov 25, 2024) —
Kennesaw State University’s Model United Nations team did an outstanding job at the Southern Regional Model United Nations (SRMUN) conference held in Atlanta from November 21-23.
Under the mentorship of School of Government and International Affairs professor Dr. Megan Hauser, the team of 30 students competed alongside 26 universities and 75 country delegations, representing five nations: Malaysia, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, and Uruguay. Their hard work and preparation throughout the semester paid off in spectacular fashion!
Here’s what they accomplished. KSU Model UN team received 4 awards out of 17 available ones.
Malaysia: Honorable Delegation (1 of 8 awards)
Saudi Arabia & Sierra Leone: Distinguished Delegation (2 of 7 awards)
Uruguay: Outstanding Delegation (1 of 2 awards- the top award!)
In total, KSU earned 4 delegation awards, the most of any university at the conference.
Model United Nations gives students hands-on experience in critical thinking, communication, diplomacy, teamwork, and leadership.
A special thank you to Megan Hauser for her exceptional mentorship and to the student executive board: President Christopher Bendross, Vice President Devyn Woodard, and Treasurer Eden McKenzie-Dingle.
