Dr. Jason Mueller published in the peer reviewed journal Human Geography
KENNESAW, Ga. (Aug 30, 2023) — Congratulations to Dr. Jason Mueller for publishing this wonderful article entitled "Subjective destitution, love, and rebellion in pandemic times: Theorizing with Hot Skull," published in the peer reviewed journal Human Geography. This article engages with the Turkish Netflix series Hot Skull (Turkish: Sıcak Kafa) -- a fictional series on a pandemic-ravaged dystopia, an authoritarian government, and the ways in which social movements organize mutual aid efforts to overcome these adverse situations. Using several key events in the series as jumping-off points, my article illustrates how theories from the disciplines of sociology and psychoanalysis can be deployed to analyze the political messages and social contexts embedded in mass media products.
