Department of Geography and Anthropology Scholarships

 


  • Rebecca Mattord Memorial Scholarship

    RCHSS students enrolled in 1 of the following academic programs or its successor: 

    • BS in Geospatial Science 
    • BA in Geography with a Certificate in Geographic Information Sciences 

    Minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 

    Student(s) should be a Junior or Senior 

    Preference will be for academic merit. Need will also be considered but is not a prerequisite. 

    The scholarship can be renewed for up to 2 years 

    • Brian Olcott LaRaia Memorial Traveling Scholarship

      The Brian Olcott LaRaia Travelling Scholarship will provide assistance to an undergraduate student who is a first-time participant in the study abroad program with a minimum GPA of 3.0. The student should demonstrate need as determined by the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid.  The student must be an undergraduate student enrolled in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

      • GeoSurvey Endowed Scholarship

        To provide financial support to a deserving student majoring in Surveying and Mapping at the Radow College at KSU.

        • John C. Gaskins Endowed Scholarship

          Provides financial support to a student majoring in Surveying and Mapping. Students taking required classes to obtain a Land Surveying Certificate may also be considered.

          The John C. Gaskins Endowed Scholarship was established by Brenda Gaskins (John’s wife) and Brandon Hutchins (John’s son).

          In order to be eligible to receive the John C. Gaskins Endowed Scholarship, a student must meet the following qualifications: 

          ·         Enrolled full or part-time

          ·         Minimum GPA of 2.5 

          ·         Undergraduate

          •  Majoring in Surveying and Mapping, or students taking required classes to obtain a Land Surveying Certificate may be considered 
          • It is preferred that the student selected is working in the field of surveying and mapping
          • B. Keith Rochester, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

            Donor: Rochester & Associates, Inc. established the B. Keith Rochester, Jr. Memorial Scholarship upon Mr. Rochester’s death. Most of Keith Rochester was started by his sons and several gave money too. Their funds were their majority

            Purpose and Background: The purpose of the B. Keith Rochester, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is to provide financial support to student(s) who are pursuing a Certificate in Land Surveying at Kennesaw State University.

            About: Mr. B. Keith Rochester, Jr. was a 1960 graduate of Southern Technical Institute with an AS degree in Civil Engineering Technology. He was born in Atlanta but lived in Gainesville since 1960. He and his wife, Dale, started Rochester & Associates in 1966 as a surveying firm in his home, with a $2,000 investment and a dream of creating a significant company. Mr. Rochester passed away on June 29, 2004. Today, the firm is led by his sons, Darrell and Brian. Rochester & Associates has grown and its scope of services to become a multifaceted land development consulting firm. The firm's core values are directly linked to Mr. Rochester’s personal values and work ethic.

            It is preferred that a student recipient meet the following qualifications:
            · Enrolled full or part-time in the Geospatial Sciences program with a concentration in Land Surveying

            · 2.0 minimum GPA

            • Daniel R. Silver Memorial Scholarship

              • Enrolled full time in the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SPCEET) or in the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences (RCHSS). 
              • Any undergraduate engineering student who is majoring in Civil Engineering (SPCEET), Mapping and Surveying (RCHSS), or both. 
              • Minimum 3.0 GPA and have at least one extracurricular activity. 
              • Demonstrates financial need as determined by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid
