RESOURCES AND OPPORTUNITIES
The Research Core
In earning your B.S. in Psychology, you must complete three courses that comprise what is known as the research core. Participation in these courses helps students to appreciate Psychology as a scientific discipline. The research core is comprised of the following courses:
Research Methods in Psychology (PSYC 2500): In this course you will learn about the various scientific methods and techniques used to build psychological knowledge.
Statistical Applications (PSYC 3000): In this course, students are introduced to descriptive and inferential statistical techniques for analyzing psychological research.
Advanced Lab in Psychology (PSYC 4100): In this class you will directly engage in all phases of the research process (conceptualization/design, data collection, data analysis, results interpretation, and results dissemination) for several different psychology studies.
Directed Study in Psychology (PSYC 4400)
One way to get involved in research is by doing a directed study with a faculty member. In this way, you can engage in research while simultaneously earning course credit!
