Lt. General In-Bum Chun's Lecture
KENNESAW, Ga.
(Oct 9, 2017) —
Lt. General In-Bum Chun of the Republic of Korea spoke to the Kennesaw State community
on September 28, 2017 in three different sessions. In the first session, he spoke
about the relationship between North and South Korea, the effects of the current standoff
between President Trump and Kim Jong-un. The second session focused primarily on the
U.S.-South Korean alliance as well as the roles that China and Japan play in these
relationships. While painting a picture of the current state of affairs in Asia, Lt.
General Chun argued that the presence of the United States acts as a source of stability
to the region both for the deterrence of violence as well as for trade and economic
relations. The final session was comprised of graduate students and faculty, and was
an open forum for questions and comments about Lt. General Chun’s previous sessions
and his experiences.
