Message from the Chair

Welcome! The Department of English is the largest academic department in both the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Kennesaw State University as a whole.  

The department is unique in impacting every KSU student through our freshman composition program, which teaches students skills in research and writing that are essential to their collegiate, civic, and professional success. We also touch many KSU students through our general education literature offerings, which enable authentic engagement with our diverse cultures by exposing students to rich literary traditions and giving them the opportunity to further improve their writing abilities through engagement with that exposure.  

We also offer a dynamic curriculum via our BA in English, MA in Professional Writing, and English Education programs. These curricula expose students to the full range of English Studies: literature, creative writing, professional writing, digital humanities, education, media and cultural studies, and much more. The transferrable skills learned in English enable our graduates to find fulfillment in a wide variety of exciting careers. Among many other pursuits, KSU English graduates have achieved success as educators, screenwriters, speechwriters, communications specialists, and much more. Courses are taught by practicing scholars pursuing cutting-edge scholarship in their respective fields 

Faculty scholarly pursuits feed directly into their ability to provide students with stimulating experiential learning opportunities, such as opportunities to work directly with faculty on mentored research, to professionalize students through work on the journals and other operations affiliated with the department, and to put students in touch with valuable internship opportunities via their professional connections.
