Communication Alum Launches New Book
KENNESAW, Ga. (Apr 9, 2012) — Kennesaw State Alum Haley Kilpatrick ('07) just published her first book titled "The Drama Years: Real Girls Talk about Surviving Middle School." On April 2 she appeared on NBC's The Today Show to launch the book which seeks to get inside the minds of middle school girls so that their parents and mentors can better understand them.
At 15 Kilpatrick founded the non-profit organization Girl Talk, a program that facilitates a mentor-mentee relationship between middle and high school girls. She then obtained her degree in Communication from Kennesaw State, concentrating in Public Relations.
On April 16 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. she’ll be at the KSU Center to celebrate "The Drama Years" and the 10th anniversary of her organization. Parents and girls ages 9-18 are invited to engage in a conversation about friendships, bullying, brands, and body image. Admission is free.
