Kennesaw Alumnus Awarded Prestigious Dissertation Fellowship

 

KENNESAW, Ga. (Apr 25, 2013) — The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation has announced that Anthony Byrd, a 2005 graduate of Kennesaw State University, has been named a 2013 Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellow.

At Kennesaw, Mr. Byrd majored in history. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the Graduate Division of Religion at Emory University. Mr. Byrd’s dissertation, As a Benefit for Mankind: Qādī 'Abd al-Jabbār's (d. 1025) Free Will Theodicy, explores moral identity and the formation of religious orthodoxy in classical Islamic thought.
