Professor Casey Cater has received the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, based at Rutgers) fellowship for 2014-15. One fellowship is awarded each year to support one year of full-time graduate work in the history of electrical science and technology.Casey plans to use the award to complete his dissertation (at GSU) titled “Regenerating Dixie: Electric Energy, Environment, and the Making of Modern Georgia.” This work brings together environmental, cultural, business, and political history in a study of the electrification of the U.S. South from the late nineteenth to the late twentieth century.
