Office: EB 107

Prior to arriving at KSU, Albert Lee taught screenwriting, filmmaking, and film/media studies at a public liberal arts college near Seattle and at a private international college in Seoul. He's also taught writing to M.A. candidates at one of Korea's leading professional schools of translation and interpretation.

Although originally from Seattle, Albert has also served as a Seoul-based consultant to Korean entertainment companies developing international film, television, and digital projects with American and French partners including Universal/Focus Features, Telfrance Série-Canal+, CBS Local Digital, and Jigsaw Productions-Intelligent Television. His production experience, primarily on independent films in L.A. and New York, includes serving as Assistant Director on the award-winning feature Punching at the Sun (Sundance 2006, Criterion Channel 2022), which grew out of a short film he directed. Despite identifying mainly as a writer, Albert earned SAG eligibility for acting in a television/web commercial for The Color Purple, a Broadway musical presented by Oprah Winfrey. He's also appeared on Huang's World, a Vice Media/A&E documentary series hosted by Eddie Huang (Fresh Off The Boat).

Over the years, Albert has mentored students pursuing careers in entertainment and various other fields including education and international affairs. Most recently, a former film student had his debut feature invited to Cannes and Toronto.

Albert has multiple projects in development featuring complex, multi-dimensional Asian characters, often involving aliens, late bloomers, shifting timelines, and dystopian futures. His stories explore themes of coming-of-age, cultural identity, artistic struggle, and reinvention from a perspective  informed by the globalization of popular culture.
