Students have powerful reactions to Ghanaian-Italian Documentary

KENNESAW, Ga. (Nov 14, 2019) — Friday, November 8, the Department of Foreign Languages hosted award-winning, Ghanaian-Italian director Fred Kuwornu, in an event co-organized by Italian Studies, The Center for African and African Diaspora Studies, and the African and African Diaspora Studies program.

Mr. Kuwornu introduced and showed his documentary, Inside Buffalo, on the segregated African American Division that fought in WWII Italy.

Renata Creekmur (Senior Lecturer of Italian) and Andrea Scapolo (Assistant Professor of Italian), together with CAADS Director Nuru Akinyemi, were the faculty members responsible for the event.

Attending students, declared the event to be "eye-opening," "incredibly interesting," and "relevant for today's situation." One student said that she was moved to tears.
