French Film Festival

Spring 2025

The Department of World Languages and Cultures is proud to present an Albertine Cinémathèque French Film Festival on the Kennesaw campus of Kennesaw State February 13 - 28, 2025!

All screenings will have English sub-titles and will be free and open to the public. Screenings are Thursday and Fridays at 5:15 pm in the Social Sciences Building, room 1019.

Linda veut du poulet (Chicken for Linda!)

Thursday, February 13

This charming animated comedy tells the story of a recently widowed mother who can’t cook but who is determined to make her daughter a chicken dinner despite an ongoing general strike.

Accolades: Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 97%

La passion de Dodin Bouffant (The Taste of Things)

Friday, Feburary 14

Starring Juliette Binoche, this delectable masterpiece tells the story of a romance between a cook and her employer who loves her food almost as much as he loves her.

Accolades: Winner of Best Director at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Nomination for an Academy Award in 2024.

Anatomie d’une chute (The Anatomy of a Fall)

Thursday, February 20

This cerebral murder trial drama portrays a woman’s alleged role in her husband’s death after his apparent fall in the French Alps.

Accolades: Winner of Palme d’Or at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Nominated for five Academy Awards in 2024 & Winner of Academy Awards Best Original Screenplay in 2024.

Mars Express

Friday, February 21

A futuristic animated thriller with adult and tech-noir themes, Mars Express follows an interplanetary private detective duo in pursuit of a pair of robot hackers considered criminals by some and activists by others.

Accolades: Winner of Best Animated Film from Paris Film Critics Association Awards.

Le Mépris (Contempt)

Thursday, February 27

Jean-Luc Godard’s 1963 French New Wave meta-adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey, this stirring drama spotlights the rocky marriage of Paul and Camille, played by Brigitte Bardot.

Accolades: Ranked #54 in Sight & Sound magazine’s list Greatest Films of All Time.

Disco Boy

Friday, February 27

Giacomo Abbruzzese’s visually and musically stunning directorial debut, this drama portrays the complex relationship between a French Foreign Legion soldier and a warrior in the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta.

Accolades: Winner of Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution in Cinematography at Berlin International Film Festival and The Lumières Award for Best Music.
